Project: Towards making Udaipur a beggar-free city

Towards making Udaipur a beggar-free city

Description

In the city, at temple or traffic signals often sees one being surrounded by hordes of beggars. They will not let you go unless you cough up some money as alms.
The district administration wants to provide an opportunity for the beggars to learn vocational skills. With the help of Human Trafficking Cell, Child and Women Welfare Committee and other legal authorities, city administration wants first counseling for them to either learn vocational skills or work somewhere, but they should not beg. These committees will provide proper counseling about social justice and how they can connect to the mainstream society.
The motive is to convince them to leave begging and opt for legitimate occupation. Courses including Mobile repairing, Gardening and Driving, apart from other skills are included in the training.
NGOs and other committee will form several teams of volunteers and spread in the city. Few areas are identified for this initiative:
Hiran Magri sector-4, Avri Mata Slum Colony, Sai Baba Mandir Sector-6 and Reti Stand.
This project will use phase wise approach which are as follows:
I Phase: In this phase, survey will take place
II Phase: Will organize the counselling camp for the beggars
III Phase: In different areas, various NGOs and volunteers team will do counseling
